1. Welcome and Intimations

  2. Prayer and Lord’s Prayer

    Our Father, who art in heaven,
    hallowed be thy name;
    thy kingdom come;
    thy will be done;
    on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us this day our daily bread.
    And forgive us our trespasses,
    as we forgive those who trespass against us.
    And lead us not into temptation;
    but deliver us from evil.
    For thine is the kingdom,
    the power, and the glory
    for ever and ever.
    Amen.

  3. CH4 510 Jesus Calls Us

    1. Jesus calls us here to meet him
      as, through word and song and prayer,
      we affirm God’s promised presence
      where his people live and care.
      Praise the God who keeps his promise;
      praise the Son who calls us friends;
      praise the Spirit who, among us,
      to our hopes and fears attends.

    2. Jesus calls us to confess him
      Word of life and Lord of all,
      sharer of our flesh and frailness,
      saving all who fail or fall.
      Tell his holy human story;
      tell his tales that all may hear;
      tell the world that Christ in glory
      came to earth to meet us here.

    3. Jesus calls us to each other,
      vastly different though we are;
      creed and colour, class and gender
      neither limit nor debar.
      Join the hand of friend and stranger;
      join the hands of age and youth;
      join the faithful and the doubter
      in their common search for truth.

    4. Jesus calls us to his table
      rooted firm in time and space,
      where the Church in earth and heaven
      finds a common meeting place.
      Share the bread and wine, his body;
      share the love of which we sing;
      share the feast for saints and sinners
      hosted by our Lord and King

    2. 1 John 4:7-21

  4. CH4 600 Spirit of God, Unseen as the Wind

    1. You spoke to us - long, long ago -
      gave us the written word;
      we read it still, needing its truth,
      through it God's voice is heard.

      Spirit of God, unseen as the wind,
      gentle as is the dove:
      teach us the truth and help us believe,
      show us the Saviour's love!

    2. Without your help we fail our Lord,
      we cannot live his way;
      we need your power, we need your strength,
      following Christ each day.

      Spirit of God, unseen as the wind,
      gentle as is the dove:
      teach us the truth and help us believe,
      show us the Saviour's love!

  6. Known Unknowns 38 Fellow Travellers

    1. Is God, who made and loves the earth,
      who gave each self and star its birth,
      convinced that Christians know it all?
      Or is that image much too small?

    2. Did Jesus Christ, the faithful Jew,
      claim God was fond of just a few,
      content to serve a chosen race
      and limit heaven’s warm embrace?

    3. Did Christ not show immense respect
      for those of a less favoured sect,
      enjoying, when the faith shone clear,
      the faithful other people fear?

    4. Do we presume the Muslim mind,
      what Buddhists claim or Hindus find
      is purely human in design,
      detached from all that is divine?

    5. God, bless the faith we call our own,
      each word we love, each seed you’ve sown,
      yet humble us till we believe
      you are much more than we conceive.

    6. Encourage us to look with care
      on sacred gifts which others share —
      our fellow-travellers led by light,
      who walk by faith and not by sight.

  7. COMMUNION

  8. CH4 19 Ye Gates

    1. Ye gates lift up your heads on high;
      ye doors that last for aye,
      be lifted up, that so the King
      of glory enter may.
      But who of glory is the King?
      The mighty Lord is this;
      even that same Lord that great in might
      and strong in battle is;

    2. Ye gates, lift up your heads; ye doors,
      doors that do last for aye,
      be lifted up, that so the King
      of glory enter may.
      But who is he that is the King,
      the King of glory? who is this?
      The Lord of hosts, and none but he,
      the King of glory is;

      Alleluia! alleluia!
      alleluia! alleluia! alleluia!
      Amen, amen, amen.

  11. CH4 675 Now Let Us From This Table Rise

    1. Now let us from this table rise
      renewed in body, mind and soul;
      with Christ we die and rise again,
      his selfless love has made us whole.

    2. With minds alert, upheld by grace,
      to spread the word in speech and deed,
      we follow in the steps of Christ,
      at one with all in hope and need.

    3. To fill each human house with love,
      it is the sacrament of care;
      the work that Christ began to do
      we humbly pledge ourselves to share.

    4. Then grant us grace, Companion-God,
      to choose again the pilgrim way
      and help us to accept with joy
      the challenge of tomorrow's day.
