1. Welcome and Intimations

  2. Prayer and Lord’s Prayer

    Our Father, who art in heaven,
    hallowed be thy name;
    thy kingdom come;
    thy will be done;
    on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us this day our daily bread.
    And forgive us our trespasses,
    as we forgive those who trespass against us.
    And lead us not into temptation;
    but deliver us from evil.
    For thine is the kingdom,
    the power, and the glory
    for ever and ever.
    Amen.

  3. O God, Our Creator, You Work Every Day

    1. O God our Creator, you work every day:
      A potter, you form us — your people — like clay.
      A shepherd, you guide us and seek out the lost.
      A parent, you love us, not counting the cost.

    2. Christ Jesus, how rough were your hard-working hands!
      You labored among us; our God understands!
      Bless workers who struggle, their families to feed;
      Bless those who face hardship, oppression, or greed.

    3. Lord, some live among us who need constant care,
      Whose work is to make us more humbly aware.
      They teach us the best of your lessons, by far:
      It's not what we do, Lord, you love who we are!

    4. We're baptized! Your Spirit gives new work to do,
      That we, through our serving, may glorify you.
      Each person's vocation, each calling, has worth
      As you send us out to bring Christ's love on earth.

  4. CH4 1 How Blest Are Those Who Do Not Stray

    (Psalm 1)

    1. How blest are those who do not stray,
      led by the wicked's talk;
      who will not with the sinful stand,
      nor sit where scoffers mock.

    2. The teaching of the Lord their God
      they follow with delight,
      and meditate upon his word
      with gladness day and night.

    3. They flourish like well-watered trees
      set by a riverside,
      whose fruit matures, whose leaves remain —
      they prosper and abide.

    4. The wicked, like the straw and chaff
      by wind blown far away,
      can have no place among the just
      nor stand on judgement day.

    5. The Lord will guard the righteous well,
      he knows the way they take;
      but doomed to perish is the way
      the wicked undertake.

  6. CH4 706 For the Healing of the Nations

    1. For the healing of the nations, Lord,
      we pray with one accord,
      for a just and equal sharing
      of the things that earth affords.
      To a life of love in action
      help us rise and pledge our word.

    2. Lead us forward into freedom,
      from despair your world release,
      that, redeemed from war and hatred,
      all may come and go in peace.
      Show us how through care and goodness
      fear will die and hope increase.

    3. All that kills abundant living,
      let it from the earth be banned:
      pride of status, race or schooling,
      dogmas that obscure your plan.
      In our common quest for justice
      may we hallow brief life's span.

    4. You, Creator God, have written
      your great name on humankind;
      for our growing in your likeness
      bring the life of Christ to mind;
      that by our response and service
      earth its destiny may find.

  8. CH4 622 We Sing a Love That Sets All People Free

    1. We sing a love that sets all people free,
      that blows like wind, that burns like scorching flame,
      enfolds like earth, springs up like water clear:
      come, living love, live in our hearts today.

    2. We sing a love that seeks another’s good,
      that longs to serve and not to count the cost,
      a love that, yielding, finds itself made new:
      come, caring love, live in our hearts today.

    3. We sing a love, unflinching, unafraid
      to be itself, despite another’s wrath,
      a love that stands alone and undismayed:
      come, strengthening love, live in our hearts today.

    4. We sing a love, that, wandering, will not rest
      until it finds its way, its home, its source,
      through joy and sadness pressing on refreshed:
      come, pilgrim love, live in our hearts today.

    5. We sing a burning, fiery, Holy Ghost
      that seeks out shades of ancient bitterness,
      transfiguring these, as Christ in every heart:
      come joyful love, live in our hearts today.
